My Supplement Routine
It’s hard to think about wellness, and not think about supplements. I mean, they’re kind of like the bread and butter of wellness influencers, and major wellness brands.
The truth is, you don’t have to take supplements in order to practice wellness. Sure, supplements can absolutely help your overall well being, but they’re not the end all when it comes to health.
In fact, it’s a heck of a lot better for you to get your nutrients from real, whole foods- rather than from packaged powders and capsules. Plus, supplements are still processed through your liver. So going too hard on them certainly won’t give you those much desired “detox” qualities that many supplement companies are touting.

Today’s post will do a deep dive on my supplement routine. Not because this is the same exact one you should also adopt, because some random chick on the internet is telling you about it. But rather because this is a question I get asked all the time on Instagram, so I figured I might as well condense it all into one place.
Before you deep dive into buying five million tinctures and capsules from my affiliate links listed, make sure you do some basic blood work to find out what your body actually needs first. I promise you this will save you a lot of trial and error when it comes to creating your own supplement routine.
My Supplement Routine
My supplement routine is something I’ve tweaked and refined a lot over the years. And what? I’ll keep doing just that until the end of time.
Why?
Because my body’s needs are constantly changing! My diet changes, my hormones change, and my environment changes.
So you can imagine that what worked for me in my twenties, isn’t going to work for me now. Heck, what worked for me last year isn’t even relevant to me anymore!
It’s important to constantly check in with your body (and with your blood test) in order to create the best supplement regimen for you in each phase of your life.
Keep in mind, I don’t take these supplements every single day. Some I do, while others are on an as-needed basis.
I also made sure to add vegan options for animal products, although I don’t take the vegan versions anymore. I can attest to the quality of these plant based alternatives, because I took them for years before transitioning to animal products.
Supplements For Digestion
There’s nothing worse than bloat, am I right? There’s also nothing worse than living on the toilet all the time.
Honestly, whether you’re backed up, or you’re going all the time- it’s important to get your digestion under control. And supplements can definitely help with that.
So can a simple ginger or peppermint tea, by the way.
Digestive Enzymes
Digestion enzymes are helpful if you’re having trouble getting things moving. These can also be helpful if you’re having nutrient absorption issues.
Keep in mind, not all digestive enzymes are created equally. That’s why I love Digest Gold. These were doctor recommended, and they’ve been really good to me.
It’s also worth noting that you don’t need to stay on these forever. In fact, you want your gut to be able to do this all on its own! You’re just helping to get things started.
Slippery Elm
I turned my wife onto slippery elm, and now it’s like I’ve created a monster. She swears by this when we travel, because that’s when she tends to get the most backed up.
I like the capsules, but you can also buy it in tea form. Slippery elm is a natural bark that gets things flowing. Use as needed.
Arrae Bloat Capsules
Okay, I’m not one to trust big social media trends of brands, but honestly these are my favorite bloat capsules because they freaking work.
I don’t take them daily, only as needed. I also find them to be really soothing when I have cramps, which is an added bonus.
Armra Colostrum
Yet another social media sensation that has proven to be incredible. Armra is known for de-bloating and de-puffing, and I can definitely attest this to be true.
Amidst hormonal treatments in my fertile journey, my belly has….changed. Armra has helped to sooth my stomach when it’s inflamed or irritated in a really gentle, yet effective way.
High Quality Probiotic
I don’t mess around with probiotics, which is why I get a prescription grade probiotic from my doctor. Obviously I can’t link or recommend that here.
I will say that I also really like Seed. And have used them when I’ve been too busy to see my doctor for a refill.
Supplements For Skin
You all know I’ve been on quite the skin journey over the last few years. You can read more about that HERE, where I share about healing my skin from the inside, out.
Oftentimes when the skin is irritated or inflamed, it’s trying to tell us about a deeper issue going on. Try to get to the root cause of your skin problems before taking a million pills, okay?
Animal Organs
Ummm…animal organs? Yeah, this was hard for the former vegan in me to process, but holy crap do these little capsules do wonders for my skin.
I love the Heart and Soil brand, because they were recommended to me from a healthcare practitioner I trust. And, I’ve seen the results myself. Get the Hair, Skin, and Nails for best results.
You can read more about my transition from veganism to animal products HERE.
Armra Colostrum
You’ll see Armra pop up quite a few times on these lists, because it’s just one of those magical products that kind of does it all.
I was actually recommended this product specifically for skin, and I can say that I feel plumper and more glowy when I use it. However, I notice the gut health benefits with Armra the most.
Fish Oil
Fish oil is another powerhouse supplement that can help with so many things….and your skin is just one of them.
Learn more about the best food for glowy skin HERE.
Vegan Fish Oil Replacement (Algae)
Vegan girlies out there, I was once there…so I got you covered. This fish oil replacement is honestly awesome, and super sustainably sourced.
This was also recommended by a doctor when I refused to take fish oil, so I really trust the quality.
Vegan Collagen
More vegan options for those of you who can’t stomach the thought of getting collagen from animal organs.
This vegan collagen helped my arthritis so much when I had really bad flare ups. I recommend taking the liquid kind, because it’s more potent. The bad news is that it tastes horrible…so if you can’ handle the taste, then opt for the capsules.
Supplements For Gut Health
I’ll keep this short and sweet, because gut health really overlaps with digestion. You’ll see the same main players pop up here.
What I will say is this: your gut health determines so much of the other health issues you may be facing. It’s absolutely looking into more in-depth via a stool test (yes, that means pooping into a cup, but whatever).
High Quality Probiotic
Remember, I go for the prescription grade stuff, so I can’t link that for you. But, you can ask your doctor or acupuncturist about options.
If you’re looking for something over the counter, then Seed is your best bet.
Digestive Enzymes
You can absolutely get more digestive enzymes in food like green bananas and papaya seeds. However, when you need a little *more* then Digest Gold has your back.
Learn more about papaya seeds hacks HERE.
Animal Organs
It’s wild to think that animal organs can help your gut health, but they do. I swear.
I love the Hair, Skin, and Nails blend. But their Liver and Bone Marrow, or For Her blends are great, too.
Armra Colostrum
Oh, what ya know, it’s Armra again. Of course! I love the unflavored kind the most, but the blood orange is pretty tasty, too.
Supplements for Energy
I don’t drink coffee, and I’m also a former adderall addict, so I need to be careful when it comes to taking anything for energy.
Below you’ll find pretty gentle options for energy that won’t totally zap your adrenals, and leaves you feeling jittery and crashed out.
Green Dream Blend
Here’s the thing, greens really do wonders for our energy. However, if you’re in a place where you don’t have an abundance of leafy greens available, or you just don’t like the taste- then a powder option is your best bet.
I like to bring this with me when I travel to places where there’s not the same variety of greens that my body craves (like the tropics). It’s great in smoothies, or mixed into dressings and other foods.
Methylated B Vitamin
Most people are deficient in B vitamins, especially vegetarians and vegans…but carnivores definitely can be, too! Deficiency can lead to anxiety, depression, and low energy. Get your levels checked!
I don’t need to take this anymore, because the animal organs regulate all my levels. But, when I did, I liked the liquid version, because I found it gentler on my system to digest.
Guarana
When I need a pick-me-up, then guarana is my jam. I love these capsules (ink), because they’re only 200 mg, which is a pretty low dose.
You can also buy guarana powder to add to your smoothies, but please be careful. That ish is powerful!
Enzyme Blend
A friend turned me onto this enzyme blend, and I’ve never looked back. I love that the bottle lasts forever, so even though it seems pricey upfront, it’s actually good for a few months.
Animal Organs
Of course animal organs make an appearance again. Like Armra, then kind of do it all.
I like to take them first thing in the morning, and truly feel like these are the things to “break my fast” in a really gentle way. The bottle suggests 6 a day, but I only take 3 btw.
Electrolytes
If you’re dehydrated, then you’re not going to have high energy. Period. And the thing it that even if you’re drinking water all the time, it might be stripped of all the minerals and nutrients due to the purification process.
I’m a huge LMNT fan, and honestly drink it every day. Omg, it’s the only thing that keeps me alive when I’m existing in this Nicaragua heat without AC, my god.
Supplements For Sleep
I’m blessed to be a good sleeper. In fact, when my sleep is off, that’s a huge red flag for me, because normally I’m out like a light every night, through the night.
So, I don’t really need (or want) supplements to sleep. Honestly, melatonin made me feel like a crazy person the few times I’ve taken it. And even sleepy tea can be intense.
I kept this list short and sweet.
Magnesium Glycinate
I was recommended a high dose of magnesium glyniate from my doctor when I was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety after leaving an abusive relationship, which led to trouble sleeping.
That was 10 years ago, and it’s still my favorite sleepy time routine. Make sure to get the magnesium glycinate!
Electrolytes
The other thing I do for quality sleep is simple….I make sure I’m hydrated. This way my body can actually relax and unwind a little more easily.
Plus, LMNT has magnesium in it, too. Bonus!
Supplements For Fertility
For all of my fellow future mamas out there who are looking to boost their fertility, these are the best supplements you can choose!
Remember, these are good to take before you freeze your eggs, too. Most of these supplements target the egg quality, which is something you’ll want to work on before you get your eggs retrieved, as well.
Prenatals
There are so many prenatal vitamins on the market, it’s really hard to know which one to choose. Theralogix was recommended to me by several doctors, and I’ve been happy with it so far.
I’ve been on it for over a year, and don’t have any negative side effects or upset stomach from taking them. Love that for me.
Coq10
Coq10 is really the gold star of supplements when it comes to improving your egg quality. It’s been scientifically proven to the point that every fertility clinic I’ve ever gone to (which is a lot) has recommended it to me.
I love this brand, because I trust the quality.
Fish Oil
Fish oil is another supplement that works wonders on egg quality. Now, if you can eat fish (especially sardines), then you probably don’t need the supplement.
I, however, can’t get past the smell…so I gotta stick to the capsules. Make sure you get a high quality like these ones to get the best results.
Don’t forget you can always get the vegan version that’s made out of algae, instead.
Animal Organs
I think that animal organs win the award for being on the most lists, right?! They’re truly the best in all things, which is why I kind of see them as a multivitamin.
Since starting on animal organs, I’ve been able to stop taking B vitamins and collagen. I love that, because it’s less of a load on my liver, which my body loves when it’s working to conceive.
Try the For Her package if you want to target fertility.
There you have it, my friends. You just for the major lowdown on my favorite supplements.
Let me know which ones are your favorite in the comments below!
xx,
K
